Summer Bus Driver Jobs and Shuttle Drivers

Seasonal Bus and shuttle drivers work for tour companies and resorts. Shuttle drivers are usually limited to dropping off and picking up guests for

activities like fishing and hiking, while tour bus drivers are responsible for taking guests on tours of Alaska’s countryside, often providing information as well as driving services.

Previous experience driving large vehicles is helpful, and drivers will have to obtain an appropriate commercial driver’s license. Tour companies generally provide training in interpretation and commercial driving and may assist with licensing. Training is extensive and often paid.

In addition to drivers, these companies also hire support and administration personnel like reservation clerks and trip packers.

Summer Bus Driver Jobs and Shuttle Drivers
Drivers often provide natural history and other interpretation in addition to driving the vehicle. They may also handle baggage for customers. Good customer service and public speaking skills are important, as well as previous experience as a professional driver. Experience with maintenance and an Alaska Class “C” CDL license are helpful, although the license can usually be obtained after training. Be sure to read our tour bus driver information in the Land Tour Jobs section of JobMonkey.

Reservation Clerks and Tour Coordinators
Clerks and tour coordinators take reservations and schedule tours, and may also be responsible for company PR and explaining tours to guests. Clerks and coordinators need administrative experience and good customer service skills.

Program Assistants and Trip Packers
Program assistants and trip packers help pack and prepare for trips, as well as performing other miscellaneous administrative and support duties.

Tour companies sometimes hire nature, fishing, and other guides as well.
