Hi Virginia -- I'm sorry to hear that you are having a hard time finding the right school for non-traditional students. While older students will be in the minority at most liberal arts schools, their ranks are growing -- especially as the economic situation forces mid-life career changes, many of which require additional education and training.

My advice on this matter: Be sure to talk with the Admissions Department of the schools you are considering about their non-traditional student body -- and the resources they provide for this growing population. You might also want to consider looking into an online learning, where non-traditional students are in the majority.

Thanks for your comment and you've given me some good ideas for future posts. Good luck to you :-)

Do you know if some employers will hire older workers and not leave us out in the cold. I have spoken to a few employers and even private colleges and they seem to not want to accept us older folks into college or even hire us. We have more experience than some to the younger generation, no offense, but we old folks would like a chance at working again, too.

Please post my comment.

Sincerely yours,
