People come from all over the country to escape to the mountains, relax at ski resorts, and of course to go skiing or riding. Many take ski and snowboard lessons with qualified and professional ski and snowboard instructors. Ski and snowboard instructors have a cool job where they get to work with people and teach them about the sport that they are passionate about.

Every winter approximately 30,000 full and part time ski and snowboard instructors hit the slopes to teach people of all abilities how to ski. With over 450 ski resorts in North America, there are plenty of opportunities for people like you to become ski and snowboard instructors.

It’s a cool job where you get to be outside, work with people, and go skiing or riding all day. Not only do you get to help other people develop their skills, it’s also a wonderful opportunity to improve your own skiing and riding. Plus, you’ll get a free ski pass!

It’s important to note that ski and snowboard instructing isn’t always glorious. While you may want to be making huge powder turns, skiing in the trees, riding in the terrain park, or enjoying the mountain, this job is about what the guest wants and skiing terrain that’s appropriate for them.

Ski resorts usually hire instructors in the fall, but some big resorts are often desperate for instructors throughout the season, so it may not be too late to find a ski and snowboard instructor job this season. You usually don’t need any experience to get hired – just a positive attitude and a passion for snowsports.

If you’re not keen to work with people and teach beginners, why not pursue a different cool winter job like ski patroller or terrain park builder? Find out about other cool mountain town jobs and cool ski town jobs on the blog.
