Casino Change Attendants

With so many of the casinos devoting more and more space to slot machines, the demand for personnel to support the area has also risen.

Change attendants (also known as change specialists, slot change persons, floor change attendants, or similar variations) sell change to players in the casino slot area. Often they push a cart housing a small change bank. They also act as the cashier for some of the larger slot machine wins. For example, if a player wins a $1,000 jackpot, the machine’s normal payoff would be $100, or 400 quarters. The remaining $900 would be paid in large bills by the change attendant. This position may be strenuous for some since change attendants must wheel their carts back and forth through the slot area instead of remaining stationary. It is an entry-level position that does not require any previous experience. Employees working in this position often start out at minimum wage, but may earn more due to tips.
