Casino Pit Clerks
This entry-level position involves working in the pit area where the pit bosses and floorpersons monitor game play.
Pit clerks assist pit bosses in tracking players' current average bets and looking up betting histories which are used to determine comp rates. Pit clerks also issue markers according to pit bosses' directions and enter other forms into the casino computer system. Helpful skills include accurate typing ability and previous data entry experience; however, these skills can also be learned on the job. Many pit clerks transfer from this position to dealer positions as they open up. Pit clerks make an hourly wage, usually starting at $8, and do not receive tips.
