Those who wish to continue up the corporate ladder do so with relative ease. That’s another great thing about this business – when the country is prospering this industry grows by leaps and bounds. As such, recruitment of new employees continues. And staffing needs are not limited to the casino floor. According to Janie Libby, Human Resources Director for Boyd’s Gaming Corporation, promoting from within is the norm for most casino companies:
There are almost always employment opportunities in this industry. But you have to be willing to learn the business from the bottom up. The opportunities for advancement are there. Take my company, for example. It really does promote from within. During one time span of several years approximately 300 people out of a total of 1,600 were promoted at Sam’s Town in Tunica [Mississippi]. There’s a success story a mile long here. The current casino manager started out as a dealer. Many others have come up through the ranks as well.
