Auto Shipping Laws

When you work in any industry, it is important to follow the laws and regulations so that you can be sure you are doing everything by the books.
When you work in the auto transportation industry, this is extremely important, as you are operating a huge truck that isn't safe unless you follow the rules. There are several main trucking laws and regulations that you have to pay attention to as a driver for a company that hauls cars.First of all, you have to make sure that you are following rules about how heavy your truck should be. Nearly every road in the country has axle weight regulations that must be followed. It is very important that you know exactly which roads you are going to be taking, and that your truck is not too heavy for any of these roads. You will have to stop at several weigh stations as you make your deliveries, so you need to be sure that you are within the correct weight limits before you ever leave. If you aren't, you might want to unload one of the cars to ensure that you can pass all weigh stations.Your truck is also an important factor when it comes to laws and regulations within the auto transport industry. Only certain size and weight trucks are sufficient to haul an automobile, so you have to be sure that you are driving the right type of truck. Trying to haul an auto with the wrong type of truck can be dangerous and is also illegal.

Next, you want to be sure that you have followed all of the regulations when it comes to tying down and transporting cars and trucks. There are very strict regulations regarding how tightly a car or truck must be tied onto the truck, and the other things, such as chains, that must be used to secure the vehicles. You absolutely must be sure that you have followed these regulations. Not only will you get a huge fine if you have broken them, but you will also be putting yourself, the car you are hauling, and everyone else on the road in danger.

There are important rules and regulations that you must follow as a employee. For instance, there are a certain number of hours each day that you will be allowed to drive, and you must be sure that you are logging all of the hours that you are driving. You cannot drive more than you are supposed to be driving, because this is dangerous and can cause accidents. The last set of rules and regulations apply to you as a driver. There are certain things that you must have in your truck at all times while you are working for an auto company. You must have your logbook, insurance information, and things like cameras and other equipment. Your auto transport company will provide you with a list of the equipment that you must have in your truck at all times.

Rest assured that you will be checked before you leave, when you are arrive, and even while you are in transit. If you do not have the proper equipment, you can face fines as well.
