ESL Teacher Resources

There is one unifying EFL organization that has been in existence since 1967 - IATEFL, or the International Association of Teachers of English as a Foreign Language. IATEFL is based in Canterbury in England and claims over 3,500 members from over 100 countries.

But different countries and even states have established their own, independent organizations, including TESOL in the U.S., TESOL Canada, the Philippines Association for Language Teaching (PALT), and Qatar TESOL, just to name a few.

Most of these groups host large annual conferences, educational and networking events where you can personally meet future employers and hand them your CV and possible have an on-the-spot interview. If you go to a conference, be sure to dress appropriately, be organized, and be ready for an interview. Registration for these events is usually done online now; just make sure you register well in advance. You will also certainly meet plenty of other eager ESL teachers with whom you can exchange resources, contacts, and ideas.

You can find information about ESL/EFL/ESOL conferences on these websites:
