NGA Hiring Information

To be considered for jobs with the National Geospatial Intelligence Agency (NGA), you must:

  • Be U.S. Citizen
  • Be eligible for a Top Secret security clearance
  • Meet specific requirements as listed in the individual job posting

Who They're Hiring

"We continue to hire for a number of positions within NGA," Lowe said. The agency hires for various occupations, including analysts, scientists, financial management, security personnel, and HR professionals, all to support the core mission of the agency.

People come to the agency from a wide variety of backgrounds: "We hire people from various backgrounds, such as former military personnel, those from the private sector and other government agencies, and graduates right out of college," Lowe said.

Although many people supporting NGA work for the agency through a defense contractor, there are many advantages to being a direct-hire. "NGA offers so many wonderful benefits," Lowe said. These benefits include generous leave, flex time, telework opportunities, and fitness programs. Lowe said the people are also wonderful, making for an excellent work environment.

Whether direct hires or contractors, workers find NGA to be a very rewarding career. "I'm contributing to a very significant mission," Lowe said, "by making sure that national security issues are being addressed."

The Hiring Process

All positions at NGA require a top secret government security clearance. Lowe said many applicants who are not familiar with the process are surprised by both the length of time involved and the depth of the security clearance process. But for most people, the delay is well worth it in the long run.

"We truly believe we have a great and significant mission," Lowe said, "and we're always looking for good people to move that mission forward. I highly recommend working for NGA."
