Highest Paying Legal Professions

Lawyers may not be especially well-liked as a profession, given the number of jokes about them, but there is no question that they do well financially.

If you have good communication skills and an affinity for research, this may be a good fit for you.

If you want to be a lawyer, you will need to be prepared to be prepared to put in long hours to get that big pay check. Your work week will likely be somewhere between 60-80 hours, depending on the number of cases you are working on. You will also need to be able to keep track of multiple files and the next steps required for each one.

Not all junior lawyers get hired by big law firms or get a cushy corporate counsel position from the outset. If you decide to set up shop on your own in private practice, you will be running your own small business and will need to manage your overhead, supplies, and accounts receivable as well as trying to practice law.

Many people who are lawyers dream of being able to take their career to the next level by becoming judges. You will need to have several years of experience under your belt before you will either get appointed to the bench or will be in a position to run for judge. A good understanding of legal procedures is required, along with the ability to make decisions with confidence.

Another high pay job in law is that of law professor. If you are the type of person who enjoys legal research and sharing what you know, a position at a college or university may be just what you are looking for. You will need to have a number of years of practical experience as well as an advanced degree to be considered for this position. The opportunity to influence future attorneys would be very rewarding as well as lucrative, though.
