Non Profit Jobs in the Arts
Many young artists may find that as they enter the workforce, they might be interested in the administration of arts education and appreciation programs in addition to continuing with their own creative pursuits.
Nonprofit arts organizations run the gamut from museums to opera houses to educational arts organizations. That means that there are many, many opportunities to enter the nonprofit arts world in a number of ways. If you love numbers and also love to sing, finance at the opera might be a good fit for you! That way, you'll be able to spend time around something you are passionate about, while still using some of your hard skills.
Where to find nonprofit arts jobs (online job search for the arts)
While the usual sites that list nonprofit jobs also contain leads for nonprofit arts jobs (like Idealist, Philanthropy News Digest and Common Good Careers), there are also a handful of sites that cater specifically to those with a passion for the arts.
Art Search lists jobs specific to the arts world in development (fundraising), public relations, managements and even facilities management (like stage management, lighting and sound for theater and opera). The listings are not nearly as extensive as some of the other sites, but it is a great place to start off your search.
