Federal Jobs - Important Application Dates

• November 1: Summer applications typically become available
• December 1: First day to submit summer applications
• January 15: Last day to submit summer applications
• Note: Application procedures and deadlines for tree planting and firefighting jobs, and non-government concessions are different; they are described in the sections that follow.

As to be expected, the federal government has very strict guidelines and deadlines regarding summer employment applications. Before you complete any other research, be aware that you will not receive consideration for summer employment if your application is postmarked after January 15. Fortunately, there are many other seasonal outdoor job opportunities besides those run by the government that are also outlined in this program. And there are rarely deadlines for volunteer positions, one of the best ways to make connections with insiders who can help you find paying positions the following year.
