Working as a Ski Journalist
"So you get paid to take other people's vacations," a friend once said to a ski journalist.
Well, yes, and no. Yes, ski journalism allows you to combine work with fun. Yes, it certainly beats sitting in an office bent over a computer.
But you must also have a special kind of self-motivation to survive in the business. You have to be willing to endure what, frankly, is hard physical work--even if you're sick and you just feel like burrowing down deeper in bed. And you'll never get rich.
Ski journalism actually comes in several forms but it's easiest to understand if you divide it into two basic parts:
