Entertainment in Taiwan
Taipei's hot bars are constantly changing, but for now try Circus I, Circus II, Whiskey-a-Go-Go, Kiss, Spin, and the Roxy - all are still going strong after five years.
The locals love KTV (Karaoke TV), so if you want to make friends, learn to like it or pretend that you do. For a more relaxing time, there are some nice tea houses.
American Cultural Center
The American Cultural Center hosts movies, lectures, and classes. It also has a room full of English books and plenty of magazines from the United States.

Newspapers and Magazines
Taiwan has two English-language daily newspapers, the China Post and the China News. The International Herald Tribune, USA Today, and many major American magazines, including Time and Newsweek, are also available. Because they are expensive, most people either share or borrow them from the American Cultural Center. This Month in Taiwan, which is available for free from most Western hotels, lists events, conversion tables, temperatures, and other general information.
Radio/TV
For news, weather, and music in English, tune in to International Community Radio Taipei at 100.1 FM. For Western rock 'n' roll, listen to 576 AM. Local TV stations also broadcast English programs in the evenings. Some Taiwanese people have satellite dishes and receive cable transmissions from the United States, Japan, or Hong Kong.
