PRIVATE SCHOOLS IN POLAND

In Poland, the private sector provides the majority of English teaching jobs. Private schools operate all over Poland, although they are more likely to be
found in the mid- to large-sized cities. Teaching jobs in private schools are generally less structured than those found in their public sector counterparts, both in terms of their curricula and the benefits they provide.

First and foremost, it's important to understand that private schools are businesses that aim to profit from tuition. Consequently, some private schools care more about the bottom line than they do about providing high-quality language instruction or about the teachers they employ. You will undoubtedly hear stories of schools that don't do much to support their teachers—perhaps they provide little in the way of support materials or guidelines for classroom curriculum. Though this should not dissuade you from pursuing work in private schools, be aware of the realities. Try to find a school that balances its priorities so that your aims are compatible with the school's overall goals.

For teaching positions in private schools, you should expect to be paid in the range of 20 to 25 zloty per hour. This amounts to between US$8 to $10 an hour. Bases on these hourly wage ranges, monthly salaries should fall between 2,400 and 3,000 zloty, or US$980 to $1,200.

Classes at private schools are usually forty-five or fifty minutes long, which counts as a teaching hour. Students run the gamut from young kids to middle -aged adults. Most, however, will be college-age or younger businesspeople who are eager to garner the benefits that proficiency in English will afford them in the world of international business.
