Find Your Ultimate Dream Job

What do you call the snowy peaks of Utah's Wasatch mountains, the wild skies of untamed Alaska, center court at halftime during a Chicago Bulls game, or the middle of a dusty bull ring? Would you be excited if one of those places were your office? How does your office compare to that? Do you ever wish you had a really cool office? Do you work in a cubicle? Do you have a window? Do you have a good view?

It's true. Some people have amazing offices. What is an office other than the place that you work? Why can't you work in a really cool place?

What if you worked on a movie set in Hollywood as a stuntman, dropped heli-skiers off on remote peaks as a helicopter pilot, or advised golfers on club choices on the fairways of a golf course as a caddie? You can, if you want.

In order to have a cool or unique office you need to have a cool job - the job of your dreams. Cool jobs are something that you look forward to doing and you also get a paycheck. Think about what you would do, even if you didn't get paid, then go do that. Maybe you want to be yacht delivery guy, a puppeteer, a wedding planner, or a cake designer. If you enjoy what you are doing, you will be happier. A happy worker is the best type.

Work should be something you get excited about. If you are passionate about what you do, you'll do a better job. People do all sorts of odd, unique, and cool jobs. Maybe you want to trim the toes of an elephant, teach people how to belly dance, work the door at a New York high rise, drive limos, juggle fire, ink tattoos, or create wigs.

All of these jobs exist and none of these people work in cramped cubicles.

Offices are where you spend your time. They don't need to be stuffy and full of rules. Why should you have to wear an uncomfortable suit and tie? As long as you're enjoying what you do, your office will be great. Maybe you're touring through the mountains predicting avalanches, washing windows on a skyscraper, or having your hands photographed in a studio. Wherever you work, that's your office.

It's a pretty cool experience when someone comes to your workplace and they compliment it. When your unique job and office make someone else envious, you'll know that you've succeeded in doing something really cool. When you love your work and look forward to it each day, you'll know in your heart you've followed the right path.

Now don't get super excited, there are some trade offs for having a cool office. You may not make as much money as you would pushing papers for 20 years. There may not be Internet available all day, and you may receive way fewer useless emails and memos.

On the upside, you will enjoy every day, make people envious, and be doing something you love and believe in. That's important if you truly want to embrace life.

It's like H. Jackson Browne instructs, "Find a job you like and you add five days to every week." Waking up in the morning is a pleasure when you are stoked to go to your office. It doesn't matter where you work, as long as you love it. There are cool offices to be had in cities, towns, stadiums, wilderness areas, ski resorts, or anywhere else that you look forward to spending time.

It might be time for you to find your dream job. Where do you want to be? What do you want to do? Is it time to reconsider your current career path? If money was no issue, what would you be doing? Think about those questions, find a job that fits your plans, and then take a leap of faith. Once you're there you'll never look back.
