What You Need To Include On Your Business Cards

Do you have a business card? Business cards are a small investment that have a big potential for your future. Whether you have a job or not, business cards are one of the most important parts of your job search.

Business cards make a big impact on your personal marketing and self branding. They are something you should keep in your wallet and hand out freely. Pass your business card to anyone who could potentially help you. They are ideal for networking events, job fairs, and even job interviews. They are helpful for people who are gainfully employed and job seekers. Business cards are just an all around good idea.

People will take you more seriously if you have a business card. It makes you appear more professional, focused, and driven. Plus, who ever has your business card will remember you and ideally contact you. It’s a wise decision to create business cards, but what are you supposed to include? Here is some info that you may want to include on your business cards:

  • Name – This is definitely not something you want to forget!
  • Phone Number – Feel free to include a cell phone and home number.
  • Address – This can be your personal address, mailing address, or company address.
  • Email Address – Email is an incredibly convenient way to get in touch with someone.
  • Web Presence – You need to have a web presence. Include a link to your personal website, LinkedIn profile, or your portfolio.
  • Employer – If you’re employed, it’s a good idea to include your employer’s logo and info.
  • Tagline or Catchphrase – Think of something clever that leaves people yearning to learn more about you.
  • Logo – If you have a personal or company logo, it’s a good thing to include.
  • QR Code – QR codes are a fun way for people to link to your website to learn more about you.

Does this seem like a lot of info to fit on a business card? Standard business cards are 3.5″ x 2″. One trick to make the most bang for your buck is to use 2 sided cards. Use the space effectively. Be sure to use a professional font that is easily legible. Don’t clutter your space. Take the time to design a card that looks good and is intriguing. Ultimately, your card tells your story. Make sure it has the correct info and that it represents who you are.

The only down side of business cards is that if your information changes, you have to print new business cards. It’s easy to print your own business cards using a personal printer. It can be easier, and sometimes cheaper, to use services like VistaPrint or UPrinting.

If you don’t have a business card, you need one. If your business card is boring or out of date, you need to update it. A good looking business card is one more simple and effective tool to have in your professional tool bag. Spend the time and make the investment to design your professional business cards. It can make a big difference in your professional life.
