- Is the job a sure thing?
- Is it a healthy company?
- Do you know anyone that lives there?
- Is this situation an overall improvement or a downgrade?
- Does relocating make sense?
If you’re seriously going to relocate, go for a test drive first. Plan a trip to see the place, the employer, etc. This will give you a taste of what it’s like before you fully commit. If you’re still undecided after carefully analyzing all of the things that you need to consider when relocating for a job, it might be best to trust your gut. Ultimately it’s up to you to decide the ultimate question: Should I stay or should I go?
Relocating for a job can be one of the best things you ever do, but it can also be a complete disaster. Take the time to look at the whole picture and do your homework to ensure that you don’t make a terrible life decision. Of course if things go poorly, you can always go back to what you know.
