Do you thrive off a bit of danger in your life? Are you ready to risk it all for a paycheck? Are you keen to work one of the deadliest jobs in the US? Is “Danger” your middle name?

Most people don’t worry about risking their life when they go to work, but there are a handful of jobs where people have a constant fear of possibly dying. Maybe you’ve seen one or two of these jobs highlighted on your favorite TV show or in the news?

The statistics are in and the Bureau of Labor Statistics highlights the 10 deadliest jobs in 2013. There were a total of 4,405 fatal workplace injuries in 2013. The jobs that topped the list are the  deadliest jobs in America:

  • 10. Construction Laborer
    • Total Fatalities: 215
    • Fatality Rate (Per 100,000 workers): 17.7
  • 9. Electrical Power Line Installers and Repairers
    • Total Fatalities: 27
    • Fatality Rate (Per 100,000 workers): 21.5
  • 8. Farmers, Ranchers, and Other Agricultural Managers
    • Total Fatalities: 220
    • Fatality Rate (Per 100,000 workers): 21.8
  • 7. Drivers/Sales Workers and Truck Drivers
    • Total Fatalities: 748
    • Fatality Rate (Per 100,000 workers): 22.0
  • 6. Mining Machine Operators
    • Total Fatalities: 16
    • Fatality Rate (Per 100,000 workers): 26.9
  • 5. Refuse and Recyclable Material Collectors
    • Total Fatalities: 33
    • Fatality Rate (Per 100,000 workers): 33.0
  • 4. Roofers
    • Total Fatalities: 69
    • Fatality Rate (Per 100,000 workers): 38.7
  • 3. Aircraft Pilots and Flight Engineers
    • Total Fatalities: 63
    • Fatality Rate (Per 100,000 workers): 50.6
  • 2. Fishers and Related Fishing Workers
    • Total Fatalities: 27
    • Fatality Rate (Per 100,000 workers): 75.0
  • 1. Logging Workers
    • Total Fatalities: 59
    • Fatality Rate (Per 100,000 workers): 91.3

Would you work any of these jobs? If you’re job seems boring, maybe you should consider pursuing a deadly job. With one of these gigs, you better always be on your toes. But when you consider that the risk of death is so high, maybe you won’t want to give up those office memos, morning commutes, and claustrophobic offices. It’s your choice.
