This week I have a unique opportunity for an adventure-seeking animal worker, a payroll manager for REI, and a web programmer for ESPN. Good luck with your job applications.

1. Dog Handler Job, Alaska Excursions, Skagway/Juneau, Alaska
Alaska Excursion, an Alaska adventure tourism company based on Skagway/Juneau, is looking for a dog handler to ride and drive the musher sled. Other duties include helping to entertain clients, feeding and cleaning dogs and other animal care jobs. The ideal candidate will have a strong work ethic and work equally well with people and animals.

2. Payroll Manager Job, REI, Kent, Washington
REI is looking to hire a payroll manager at its corporate headquarters in Kent, Washington. Named one of the top employers in 2009 by Fortune Magazine, REI is America’s leading outdoor adventure gear store. The payroll manager will supervise a team of three employees who are responsible for processing the pay roll of 10,000+ employees. Duties will include hiring, training and developing payroll staff; overseeing weekly and bi-weekly payroll functions; ensuring compliance with federal and state regulatory reporting requirements; and managing the set-up of 3rd party deductions. The ideal candidate must have at least five years of payroll experience with in-house payroll processing and two years of previous payroll management in a mid- to large-size corporate environment. He or she must be a Certified Payroll Professional, with a four-year Accounting degree.

3. Web Developer II – Mobile / Wireless applications, ESPN, New York, New York
Have you always wanted to work in sports? But thought that your tech background didn’t make you the most likely candidate? Check out this technical position with ESPN. The worldwide leader in sports is looking for a web developer to be responsible for producing and maintaining the technical elements of its iPhone mobile content. The ESPN Mobile Web has more than 8 million users per month, making it the most popular mobile sports web site. The demanding job of the web developer will be responsible for template maintenance and creation, special event coverage support, daily production support for editorial, investigation and implementation of new technologies.  The ideal candidate will hold a BA degree, preferably in Computer Science, and have 2-4 years of web development and/or mobile application experience. Preference will be given to those with experience developing iPhone and/or webapps and with mobile experience. Expert knowledge of HTML, Javascript and CSS and server-side template programming (JSP/ASP/PHP) is a must. Tea experience is a plus, as is experience with project management, product planning, graphic design, advertising integration and. Finally, the right candidate will be passionate about sports and committed to delivering sports fans with the ultimate mobile experience.
