The (First) Week in Review

Wow, the first full week of posting at JobMonkey is nearly finished. I’m so enjoying writing about the process of finding your dream job. The only thing missing is you. I’d love to know what you are interested in. What do you need to find your perfect career match? It’s my goal to make this blog work for you, to be about your interests and your questions. So don’t be shy: Speak up!

In meantime, I’ve been taking a look at some really diverse markets and offering a few tips of the job-searching trade.  Let’s review:

For all you wine connoisseurs out there, you’ll want to bookmark the Monday piece on Wine Industry Jobs.  (By the way, every Monday, I’ll be featuring an emerging employment market — so if there’s something you’re interested in, let me know!)

Tuesday I looked at career goal setting, which is the essential first step for any journey in your life — and that could not be truer in terms of your career. Tuesdays are toolbox day; that’s when I’ll be focusing on the essential tools to make your job search a cinch.  (Next week, we’re talking resumes, so stay tuned!)

If you’re actively looking for a job, you will definitely want to make the job boards at JobMonkey one of your daily stops.  You can search by field, so no need to sort through a bunch of irrelevant leads. Every Wednesday, I’m making your search even easier by featuring three of the hottest jobs on our boards. This week, I told you about the Art Director at AOL Music, Wind Customer Manager at GE Infrastructure, Political Associate at the D.E. Shaw Group.  Check it out here.

And finally, yesterday, I put the spotlight on ski jobs. I know, it’s still summer in much of the country, but the ski industry is warming up. (Ack, sorry for the mixed metaphors!)  Get ready for all the ski resort job fairs by reading up on available positions and what potential employers are looking for here. (FYI: Each Thursday, I’ll spotlight a cool job market. Is there something you’ve always dreamed of doing? Let me know, so we can profile the market on a Thursday!)

Well, that’s it: Our first week in review.  Please stop by and say hi and let us know what you thought of our first week!
