Spotlight on Event Jobs

Do you ever love the thrill of the crowd? The roar of a packed stadium? The pulsating beat of a rock concert? Have you ever wondered how such a large-scale event is pulled off?

Here’s a look at just a few of the jobs that are essential for putting together a great event.

Jobs at Event Management Companies
Event management companies are hired to plan large-scale events, which can include booking bands and other entertainment, working in light and sound, putting together food vendors, hiring security, security sponsors and so much more. Jobs with event management companies vary widely, so if you are interested in working with a specific type of event — sports, concert, festival, etc. — find a company that specializes in that event genre.

Field Staff Jobs
These general laborers and customer service assistants are the backbone of any event. Specific jobs can include parking attendants, set up and breakdown crews, information booth and ticket sales, food and merchandise sales, janitorial jobs, and sound & light jobs. While the pay varies, must field staff jobs pay minimum wage plus a few dollars and are short-term/temporary jobs.

Event Administration & Planning
Administering an event focuses include the organization and planning of concerts, conventions, festivals, parades or parties. Specific jobs can include Event Directors/Administrators (a position that can net a six-figure salaries), Event Administrator Assistants, Event Planners, Recruiters, PR & Marketing Jobs, and Account Executives.

Event Security Jobs
Anytime there is a large gathering of people, security is essential to control the crowds, ensure safety, and attend to any emergency situations. Specific jobs can include head of security, field security, crowd control and survey, and entrance and exit security.
