Internships with Price Waterhouse Coopers

PriceWaterHouseCoopers (PwC) is a large accounting firm that was created when the firms of Price Waterhouse and Coopers & Lybrand merged in 1998. Both of the companies that merged to form the larger firm were established in the mid-1800’s in London. The company offers a number of services to its clients, including:

  2. Business Recovery Services
  3. Consulting
  4. Financial Accounting
  5. International Tax Services
  6. Valuations

Along with these services, PwC works with government departments, non-profit corporations, colleges and universities with various business issues. International relief organizations have also benefitted from the expertise offered by PwC.

The company employs approximately 155,000 people. PwC hires approximately 2,800 interns, and the program is an important source of human resource talent for the firm. Some potential interns are introduced to PwC as high school students through their participation in the Junior Achievement program or the Accounting Careers Awareness Program (ACAP). Other interns are recruited while attending college as a freshman or a sophomore.

The first week or two of the two-month internship period are spent attending an orientation program that covers Firm procedures, as well as its culture and values. This period also includes line of service and technical training to prepare the intern for his or her duties with the firm. Case studies and practical exercises are used to accomplish this goal. After completing the training period, the intern is assigned to a work team in one of three areas: Advisory, Assurance, or Tax.

Working as an intern at PwC gives participants the chance to find out what working for the firm on a full-time basis would be like.

The Firm can also observe and evaluate the intern’s performance to determine whether they would be a good fit for a full-time position.

Another advantage to interning at PwC, whether you are hired for a full-time position or not, is the opportunity to network. The people you meet while you are a part of the team will turn into valuable contacts that you will be able to rely on as you build your career.
