When working for a trucking company, the driver gets to see places all over the United States that they probably would not be able to see otherwise. They get to stop at some of the most interesting truck stops, see some of the most interesting attractions along the major highways, and sometimes they may even have the opportunity to observe some of these strange places that this mysterious country possesses.
However, sometimes a driver will get to make deliveries to various places throughout Canada and even Mexico. There are some car shipping jobs that have you simply traveling locally. These options are great for people who don’t want to leave their families for days or weeks at a time. On the other hand, if you love the open road, a job that takes you all over the United States might be right for you.

Many of the trucks are outfitted with GPS systems that allow the trucking company to track them within three blocks of their actual location. So if a truck driver wants to see the largest ball of yarn in the world, it may be something that must be saved for the next time or for a vacation! GPS systems are put in place to keep everything moving and keep shipments from being late. Some systems can even track how fast the truck is moving to ensure the driver is not driving too fast or too slow. This is done for fuel economy reasons and for the timeliness of the delivery.

But there are some interesting truck stops along the way that truckers can stop at when they need a break. Since truckers find it difficult to sightsee, these truck stops offer a little something that the average truck stop doesn’t offer. Below are the top three that can be found in the U.S.

  • South of the Border in Dillon, South Carolina. This truck stop is literally a huge complex that sports a 200-foot-tall sombrero and a 97-foot-tall statue of Pedro, which is the facility’s mascot. It has a 300 room motel and a number of amenities that any trucker would love.

  • The Iowa 80 Truck Stop in Walcott, Iowa has a service that hand washes the big rigs. The kitchen seats 350 people and has a huge salad bar. It also contains private showers so drivers can clean up.

  • The Alamo Plaza in Sparks, Nevada gives truckers the opportunity to win money for gas by playing slots. This truck stops gives the trucker the opportunity to win some cash in the 12,000 square-foot casino.

These three truck stops are just three of the many throughout the United States that gives truckers something to look forward to. Since drivers experience the road all over the United States, these truck stops give them the opportunity to experience much more. So when someone asks a driver where they go, they can definitely say that they travel all over the country, depending on the areas in which their company services, but they can also tell them a little about some of the interesting places in which they do get to stop.
