Established in 1977, the company provides a safe and efficient means of transport across the country to many small and large destination points. It is also generally ranked as one of the most trusted transportation corporations in the nation. VIA Rail operates 503 trains on a weekly basis covering 12,500 kilometers of track.
The train system connects 450 communities across the country in both urban and rural areas providing safe and efficient transport to many destinations.
VIA Rail is constantly on the lookout for talented individuals who enjoy challenges and believe that excellent customer service and quality are the keys to a company’s success. With over 3,000 employees, VIA Rail knows that having the right employees in the right positions makes all the difference to smooth operations and success. First-line employees who deal more directly with the public are always in demand as are maintenance and administrative workers who work more behind-the-scenes but have important job functions that are just as critical to the success of the company.
A couple of the positions that VIA Rail is always looking to fill include the following jobs.

Traffic Coordinators working for VIA Rail earn on average $32,000 (USD) annual salary.
- Freight Car Repairers inspect, maintain and repair freight cars and locomotives and keep the trains running on time and safely. They also maintain shop machinery they need to use to make these repairs including overhead cranes, lifting devices and pumps.
