Working at the Super Bowl

The Super Bowl is the Championship game of the NFL, usually held in January or February on Super Bowl Sunday.

It is one of the most widely watched single sporting events each year in the United States and generates nearly $350 million dollars. The 44th annual Super Bowl, or Super Bowl XLIV, will be held on February 7, 2010 at LandShark Stadium in Miami, Florida.

Super Bowl XLIV does not yet have an official site, but the official Super Bowl Hosting Committee site is up. For a list of additional helpful or informative sites regarding the 44th annual Super Bowl, see our links below.

Super Bowl Jobs

There are a lot of ways to get involved with the Super Bowl. Because an event of that magnitude requires so much organization, the planning begins months in advance. Here are just a few ways you can get involved in a worker capacity.

Volunteers and Ambassadors

One of the best ways to get involved with the 44th annual Super Bowl is to work as a volunteer, or what the host committee calls Ambassadors. Super Bowl Ambassadors are Florida area residents charged with the responsibility of helping visitors to the Super Bowl experience South Florida at its best. Ambassadors will meet incoming Super Bowl officials, teams and families at the airport, help with hotel organization and work special events related to the Super Bowl and Pro Bowl. A lot of the work Ambassadors will be doing will be prior to the game, but the experience will be invaluable for those who are interested in sports, and in working special event jobs. To find out more about becoming an Ambassador for Super Bowl 44, or to apply for a volunteer position with the South Florida Super Bowl Hosting Committee, check out the volunteer application and job descriptions online.

All volunteers must be 18 years of age and every volunteer will undergo a training and orientation program prior to the work they will complete. The Super Bowl requires on the upwards of 6,000 volunteers in order to be successful. Although this is a large number, people are eager to contribute, so apply early. Applications for Ambassadors are already being accepted.

Jobs

Event jobs specific to the Super Bowl are very hard to procure. A lot of the organization is through the South Florida Super Bowl Hosting Committee as well as through the NFL.

Anyone interested in working full time for the Super Bowl should apply directly to these organizations, although positions are limited.

Another great way to work for the Super Bowl is through Dolphin Stadium, where the Super Bowl will be held. Venue jobs such as Cashier, Merchandise Sales, Catering, Security, Concessions, Suite Attendants and more are all viable sports jobs. The stadium will need extra staff in order to accommodate for all the people who will attend the Super Bowl. For a full list of full time and part time jobs at Dolphin Stadium, check out their jobs listings online.

Do not be discouraged if you cannot immediately find work through the Super Bowl. Checking back frequently for new opportunities, volunteer positions and Internships is a great way to begin your experience with sporting events jobs. As the event grows nearer more and more employment opportunities will arise.
