Resort Job Descriptions

If you want to learn more about employment at hotel resorts and lodges, then take some time to educate yourself on some of the positions that are most commonly available.

Through each of the links below you will learn about salary, application requirements, and job duties. By learning about each of these positions you will likely find areas where you already have the skills necessary to apply. For others however, you will learn about the areas in which you will need to improve. You will find that a lot of resort jobs are customer service positions and jobs of this sort will require an outgoing personality, warm and friendly nature, as well as an aptitude for working with people. Those with any hospitality experience will have better luck in procuring jobs of this sort. Keep in mind however, that a large portion of these jobs will train new employees.

Although the following descriptions are of positions commonly offered by the larger resorts and hotels, they still only represent a portion of the jobs that can be found in our "Find a Job" section. Of course, responsibilities, pay scales, and other aspects of employment will vary from company to company, so use these descriptions as a general employment guide. We do our best however, to list the most accurate up to date information. This helps you determine which course of action you are going to take in pursuing a resort job.

After all, each of these descriptions will give you a good indication of the hours you can expect to work, the pay you will receive and the time off you can enjoy.

Use the following descriptions to help you decide which types of employment best suit your skills and interests. Exclude from your job search positions for which you aren't qualified or which you don't think you'd enjoy - but don't limit yourself too much. The more flexible you are, the easier it will be to find work and remember, some resorts are willing to train! You can find specific information about which jobs are available at each company by consulting individual resorts.
