Jobs with the Food and Drug Administration

The FDA protects public health by regulating the food supply, human and veterinary drugs, medical devices and cosmetics. The FDA is a division of the Department of Health and Human Services.

According to a press release, the FDA is hiring hundreds of individuals with science and medical backgrounds.

In fact, the FDA has even received direct-hire authority from the Office of Personnel Management (OPM). This means the agency can hire qualified candidates even faster than normal, so that the right person can move from applicant to new hire in as little as three weeks.

"It takes a large pool of talented people for the FDA to protect and promote the public health," said John Dyer, FDA's Deputy Commissioner for Operations and Chief Operating Officer in a press release. "Each month there is a delay in bringing critical staff on board impairs the agency's ability to fulfill this mission."

The FDA will be attending job fairs throughout the U.S. as they work to fill more posts and recruit applicants. For more information about job fair dates and locations, check out the FDA website or call 888-332-4472.

The positions FDA is working hardest to fill are medical officers, consumer safety officers, chemists, nurse jobs, biologists, microbiologists, health/regulatory/general health scientists, mathematical statisticians, epidemiologists, pharmacologists, pharmacists and veterinary medical officers. Many of these positions are located in Maryland, near Washington, D.C., but there are also positions around the country.
