VA Nurses

The VA has a range of different nursing jobs, from nursing assistants to licensed practical/vocational nurses, registered nurses, and nurse.

Nursing assistants help take care of patients, performing basic care tasks like bathing, brushing teeth, cutting fingernails, and helping them in and out of beds or wheelchairs.

A nursing assistant job at the VA requires a year of prior experience in the same sort of job function, which one could get working at a nursing home or hospital. This job is available all over the country, and the pay range is around $30,000 a year.

Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs) go through a year-long training program, and then sit for an exam. They also provide basic patient care, and they take patient health histories. The pay range is $30,000-$40,000/year.

Registered nurse jobs usually require a four-year degree or a Master's degree, and a special test must be passed. The pay range for this job is from $53,000 to $94,000 (depending on education and experience) and the VA offers opportunities all over the country.

Nurse practitioner requires a Master's degree in professional nursing and a different test, and the pay ranges from $64,000 to $107,000.
