Religion of the Czech Republic and Slovakia

For the most part Czechs are not a very religious people, especially when compared to their Slovak neighbors. Over forty percent of Czechs do not practice any religious faith. Many are agnostic. The majority of those who do practice religion are Roman Catholic. As in Slovakia, Lutheran denominations attract a small percentage of the population.

Slovakia is predominantly Roman Catholic. Over sixty percent of Slovaks are members of the Roman Catholic Church, while a good portion of the remainder belong to other Christian faiths. Roughly ten percent of the population claims no religious affiliation.
