Introduction: Ski Tour Guide Jobs
Ski guides and snow board guides are part of the five-star treatment available for special guests of ski resorts.
Their job is to give clients a great time on the snow. Top-notch guides are in high demand, and a particular hosting job can last from a day to two weeks.
Ski guides are like licensed ambassadors for the resort. In some cases, like Whistler Blackcomb in British Columbia, guides can rise from the ranks of ski instructor to guide status. The group of forty to forty-five guides at Whistler Blackcomb belong to Ski Esprit, a special Dual Mountain program that provides guides and instructors.
Often, ski and snowboard guides work for large travel outfitters or group travel agencies. In those cases the guides live at the resort, meeting incoming groups and acting as the tour company's representative. That means knowing the good places to eat, the hot shops, and where the best skiing is for all abilities.
