Snoqualmie Pass Area Profile

The closest ski resorts to Seattle, the Summit-at-Snoqualmie provides quick relief for city dwellers with an itch for snow. There are four mountains: Alpental, Summit East, Summit Central, and Summit West.  Just an hour from the city, the ski areas at the Summit-at-Snoqualmie provide a variety of terrain, cross-country trails, snowboard territory, and night skiing opportunities. There is no true "ski town" near the ski area, but North Bend, about a half hour away , offers some nightlife and amenities.

Winter Activities

This area is the largest night skiing area in North America. Summit East boasts a half-pipe for snowboarders, and there are cross-country trails accessing most of the backcountry. Other activities include inner tubing.

Summer Activities

Summer at the Snoqualmie Pass area means mountain bike heaven. A chairlift is available to take your bike to the summit, and miles of scenic trails access the backcountry surrounding the ski area. There are mountain bike races and events in June and July.

The resort is located in the heart of the Mt. Baker-Snoqualmie National Forest, and hiking, fishing, and rock climbing are just a stone's throw away.

Après-ski

The Summit-at-Snoqualmie is, for the most part, a commuters' ski resort. With Seattle and the greater Puget Sound area so close, most skiers go home after a day of skiing. Although, there is a good bar at Summit West.

Transportation

The Summit-at-Snoqualmie are a straight shot from Seattle via Interstate 90. The drive takes about an hour. A free shuttle bus carries skiers between the four ski areas as well as the cross-country center and the tubing area.

Housing

Limited housing is available at the resort, and it's usually reserved for employees who don't live in Washington. Other workers can find apartments in North Bend or Cle Elum, about a half-hour on either side of Snoqualmie Pass.

Snoqualmie Pass Ski Area Employment

With four ski areas, this resort is a significant source of employment. Over 500 new employees are hired each winter. Contact the resort for specific hiring information.
