Seasonal Aids and Technicians The Bureau of Land Management has a number of seasonal aid and technician positions available every summer. Almost all of these positions are located in the western states and usually require working in remote areas. The following is a list of the most common types of jobs and their duties.- Surveying aids assist surveyors with their field work as well as set up monitoring equipment in remote locations.
- Forestry aids and technicians
survey and mark trees, cut timber, inspect timber for various diseases and insects, plant trees, and gather seeds.
- Range management positions involve enforcing range rules and trespass control, patrolling range areas, and compiling reports on land status.
- Biological aids and technicians conduct field inventories and studies of soils, plants, wildlife, and fish habitats.
