Learning to Speak Thai

Study Abroad
Thai Words and Phrases

Foreigners interested in learning Thai can find formal classes in Chiang Mai and in Bangkok. The classes generally cost between 200 and 300 baht per hour.

In some cases, schools will trade your English-teaching skills for Thai classes. The following programs are the most popular:

AUA is a huge English-language school that also offers Thai classes.

Chulalongkorn University is the most prestigious university in Thailand. Its four -week, intensive Thai language and culture program gets rave reviews. Classes meet all day, six days a week, for a month. Studies include language, culture, history, and politics. The hitch? A US$1,000 price tag that doesn't include accommodations.
